Spelthorne Mental Health Association, founded in 1973, runs a day centre for Spelthorne people age 18–65 recovering from mental illness. The service is free, and clients may be referred by any health or social care professional. The day centre is in Beresford House, the old parkkeeper’s house in the pleasant surroundings of Fordbridge Park.
At present the centre is open from 10 am to 12.30 pm, Monday to Thursday, but we hope to expand soon into afternoons and Fridays. We regret that Beresford House is a Victorian building with stairs and narrow passages, and with only limited access for people who use wheelchairs. It is not staffed to meet the needs of clients who require personal care.
